Eviction

Shelter have a tenancy rights checker. You can use this to find out if your landlord has the right to evict you, and how much notice they are supposed to give you.

If you are a private tenant, your landlord may have the right to evict you for no reason, as long as they give you notice. This is called a ‘section 21’ eviction. However, they have to follow all the regulations correctly, or you may be able to challenge them in court. If you have received a ‘section 21’ eviction notice, you can use NearlyLegal’s section 21 flowchart to see whether or not the notice is valid.
